Thunderstorms, high winds and even hail have pounded the Texas Hill Country over the past several days. Our peaches are still on the trees and in a vulnerable state so our fingers have been crossed, hoping for the best for this year’s crop. Fischer & Wieser Specialty Foods, Inc. President and CEO, Case Fischer made a trip out to the orchard and reported that “probably 10% to 15% of the crop has been damaged but it could have been much worse considering the intensity of some of the storms we’ve been experiencing…I’d say we’re very lucky at this point!”
We have begun to harvest peaches – beautiful, juicy and colorful – and they are available at das Peach Haus for $20/panta pack or $2.95/pound. It’s worth a trip to Fredericksburg!
